The State Bar of California launched the Legal Aid Justice Tech Collaborative (LAJTC) in 2025 to help legal aid grantees leverage technology to expand access to justice.
Background
The LAJTC is a grantee- and client-centered State Bar initiative to help scale legal technology and AI at grantees statewide. This initiative is the culmination of requests for tech support from grantee community and a multi-year scoping and planning process. Stakeholders in the development included State Bar staff, grantee staff, academics, Legal Services Trust Fund Commissioners, and consultants, among others.
The Legal Services Trust Fund Commission's Program Development and Impact Committee approved a workplan for the LAJTC in 2025. The workplan provides a high-level summary of the State Bar's plans for the initiative through 2027.
