About the LAJTC
Background
The Legal Aid Justice Technology Collaborative (LAJTC) is a State Bar initiative providing practical resources, training, and technical assistance to help California legal aid organizations responsibly and effectively use technology to expand access to justice.
The LAJTC was developed in response to sustained feedback from California’s legal aid community about the need for practical, coordinated support around technology adoption. Shaped by a multi-year planning process with input from legal aid grantees, Legal Services Trust Fund Commissioners, State Bar staff, academics, and other access to justice stakeholders, LAJTC is designed to help organizations navigate technology opportunities and challenges in ways that are responsible, sustainable, and client-centered.
The Legal Services Trust Fund Commission's Program Development and Impact Committee approved a workplan for the LAJTC in 2025. The workplan provides a high-level summary of the State Bar's plans for the initiative through 2027.
The initiative is guided by the LAJTC Advisory Panel, which provides strategic oversight and feedback on LAJTC’s priorities and resources. Panel members help ensure LAJTC’s work remains responsive to the needs of California’s legal aid community and grounded in responsible, equitable, and client-centered technology adoption.
